Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted over at The Broke and The Bookish. Every Tuesday, there is a topic that you can write a list about. I love lists, don't you?
This week's TTT is on Books I'm So Happy Were Recommended To Me
1. Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead
This was recommended to me by Michelle, who I met on the v-d.net forums, and I am SO happy that I listened to her. I admit, it took me a while to pick them up because I was hesitant of reading yet another book about vampires. But O.M.G this series is fantastic, and it quickly became my favourite series of all time.
2. Harry Potter series by J K Rowling
I remember back in Year 2 (age 7) when I went on a school trip, and a group of friends were chatting about the series and giving it high praise! I was intrigued, but didn’t think anything of it, as I didn’t read fantasy back then. I came home from the trip, and my nanny (grandmother) presented me with a package. Guess what was inside?
3. The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han
I can’t remember who recommended this book to me, but still – I’m grateful to whoever did!
4. Stray by Rachel Vincent
This series was recommended to me when I was looking for books about shapeshifters. I couldn’t find any decent sounding adult novels about shapeshifters/were-species, and so I asked a friend. I love this series, and if it wasn’t for this recommendation then I wouldn’t have read RV’s Soul Screamers series either!
5. Southern Vampire Mysteries by Charlaine Harris
Again, I can’t remember who recommended this to me, but I bought the first book when I heard about the TV show. I watched the first season, and decided it was time to give it a go. I loved it and I kind of half forced my boyfriend of the time to buy the next few books for me. It was Christmas, after all.
6. The Iron King by Julia Kagawa
7. City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
8. Before I Die by Jenny Downham
I actually haven’t read this book yet, so you may find it strange of me to put it on this list. Let me explain. If I hadn’t been recommended this book, then I wouldn’t have found out about JD’s other book – You Against Me. I loved this book so, so much!
9. Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles
I won’t bother explaining this one, I’m sure most of you know about my obsession with anything Spanish/Mexican/Latino. And anything Alex Fuentes.
10. Cirque Du Freak by Darren Shan
I was going to give this book away for the Spring Fete at my middle school, but I lost it. I finally found it again, and left it sitting in my room for a while, until the bookshop owner asked me what happened to the book. I told her, and that’s when she told me I should read it. So I did. And now Darren Shan is one of my favourite authors, and this is one of my favourite series.
The VA books have been on every single person's list I've read so far, haha. They're so incredible, but I think the covers have done them some incredible injustice. And the title... because yes they're obviously about vampires, but they're the most unique vampires I've read about. They have a totally different feel than typical vampire books.
ReplyDeleteCity of Bones by Cassandra Clare, Before I Die by Jenny Downham & The Darren Shan Saga by Darren Shan are amazing.
