Top Ten Authors On My Auto-Buy List

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

This week everyone is listing the authors who are either on their auto-buy list, or who would be if they had a list. I do happen to have a list (a mental one, but still) and so I am prepared this week! I've also included a few honourable mentions because I feel as though I should mention more awesome people.

Richelle Mead

I started my love affair with Richelle's books when I read Vampire Academy in 2011. Since then it's been a total rollercoaster ride. I have finished two of her series (VA and Dark Swan), and I have started Bloodlines.  Richelle also has the first book in a new series coming out this year, so I am very excited!

Rachel Vincent

Rachel is another author whose books I would buy no matter what. I read her Shifters series way, WAY back (2009/2010, I think) and I have been a huge fan ever since. Imagine how excited I was to discover that Rachel had a YA series coming out! Soul Screamers became one of my favourite series ever, and it basically cemented my relationship with Rachel's books.

Kody Keplinger

The DUFF is one of my all time favourite novels. I'll continue to read anything that Kody writes, even if they don't quite live up to The DUFF's high standards. Come on, it'd be pretty hard for them to top it!

Darren Shan

AHLFSLIGHSDILHDGLDHG. Darren is one of my all time favourite authors, and I am a complete fangirl. I started reading The Saga of Darren Shan when I was eleven, and since then I have bought every single book Darren has written. I haven't read them all yet (I have finished the Demonata series, and have started The Saga of Larten Crepsley, and Zom-B) but still. I will get there eventually!

Stephanie Perkins

Stephanie's writing style is one of the best I have ever experienced. She has a way of turning the most simple things into something of beauty. Does that sound cheesy?

Lauren Oliver

Again, I love her writing! I fell in love with it in Before I Fall, and then again with the prose in the Delirium trilogy. Have any of you read the final page of Requiem? It made me cry because of the writing alone.

J K Rowling

Her children's books, anyway. I still haven't bought The Casual Vacancy, purely because it's too expensive and I'm not all that interested in village drama. I have enough of that in my own village to last a lifetime!

Michelle Hodkin

I just LOVE the Mara Dyer books. I adore the mystery and thriller elements, and if Michelle comes out with any other books like those I am definitely going to be reading them. I'm sure she would handle other genres perfectly as well!

Jennifer Rush

Because I am a fangirl. I adored Altered, and I can't wait to read Bot Wars which comes out at the end of March. EEP!

Morgan Matson

Okay, I have only read one of Morgan's books, but Second Chance Summer stole my heart. I can't wait to see what she writes next!

Honourable mentions: Because I desperately needed more than ten. I haven't included these authors in the main list purely because I have only read one series by them, and... Well, I don't really have that great of an excuse because, let's be honest, they should definitely be included in the top ten! Jennifer L Armentrout, Rick Riordan, Neal Shusterman, Marissa Meyer.

  1. Your list is awesome! We share Richelle Mead and I've been kicking myself for forgetting about Lauren Oliver! Her books are amazing!
It's so cool to see Darren Shan on your list! I used to read them at the same age! But I stopped reading for a few years and have never returned to them. I should, because they're awesome!

Also a lot of authors I still haven't read yet. I need more time to read!

I totally new you were going to include Kody Keplinger because of The Duff!

  3. Yay for Lauren Oliver <33

Nope. You don't deserve to have Jo Rowling on your list. This top ten is auto-buy for any genre the author writes and your reason does not definitely fit in with that :P (i'm joking, I lurvs you Ambs.)

    I should've done an honounrable mentions >.<

  4. I actually only have a few authors on auto buy: Ann Aguirre, Maggie Stiefvater, Brenna Yovanoff, Patricia Briggs and Melina Marchetta. For everyone else, I wait to read a few reviews first. Oh, and there's also Markus Zusak, but he hasn't published anything in so long, he doesn't even count.
    Great list!

  5. I always love these kind of lists, because I always find new authors to look for. I can't wait to finally read something from Richelle Mead and Michelle Hodkin.

  6. YAYY to JKR and I'm so glad you gave honorable mention to JLA and Rick Riordan :D Also this list reminds me I really need to read Anna and the French Kiss. *sigh* You should also be happy to know that Altered is now on my TBR list solely because of you and Judith. xD

  7. Great list! Lauren Oliver is on mine as well. I'm still reading the last book of the Vampire Academy series, but I think Richelle Mead may become a go-to author in the future! I'm loving the series.

  9. Yes, Richelle Mead is on my auto-buy list to. Yes, I have still only read VA and Frostbite. No, I don't care. I will also buy ANYTHING by Stephanie Perkins, J.K. Rowling (her children's books, that is), Michelle Hodkin, Morgan Matson (Amy & Roger was cute, and I have to get to Second Chance Summer already), Lauren Oliver... actually, I could just keep adding authors even though I haven't read all of their books yet... and YES to Jennifer Rush :D So excited for Botwars!

  10. Haha, I agree that Kody Keplinger’s newer novels don’t match The DUFF in awesomeness. But like you said, it’s a tough book to beat. I really need to read something by Morgan Matson! Second Chance Summer looks amazing.

  14. Love your list! I need to start reading Richelle Mead, Jennifer Rush, and Stephanie Perkins this year! Love seeing Lauren Oliver and Michelle Hodkin on your list! I was seriously debating putting Hodkin on my list but let's just say she is lol.

  15. Yay Stephanie Perkins, JK Rowling and Richelle Mead! I only had the first two on my official list, but I totally should have included Richelle because I'm even more obsessed with her after finishing her latest Bloodlines book. SO GOOD! And I just got approved on NetGalley for her one that's coming out this summer and cannot wait!
