Authors I Would DIE to Meet

1. J.K. Rowling, author of... I'm sure you know what! 

I literally came THIS *holds thumb and forfinger a millimetre apart* close to meeting her at the HP6 premiere in Leicester Square, but she had to turn back as it was pouring with rain and the ground was all muddy. I was so upset! But there will be another time and place!

2. Rachel Vincent, author of the Shifters and Soul Screamers series.

She seems so lovely, and I'd love to have a long conversation about Kaylee and Tod ;) 

3. Richelle Mead, author of VA and other adult titles.

Again, she seems like a lovely person, and I would love to chat with her about Rose, Dimitri and the rest!

4. Stephen King, the King.

I admit, I'd probably feel very intimidated talking to him. But I want to meet him anyway.

5. Lynsay Sands, author of several historical romances, and the Argeneau series.

I've been reading her books FOREVER. The first book in the Argeneau series is actually the first 'adult' book I ever read, and I'm still following the series six years later.

6. Shakespeare

Just to see if I could understand what he says.

7. Michael Crichton, author of many. And Jurassic Park.

We would discuss dinosaurs, and start to extract DNA from mosquitos trapped in amber. We'd be an amazing team.

8. John Green, author of Looking for Alaska, among others.

I'm sure Mr Green is on almost everyone's list!

9. Lauren Oliver, author of Delirium and Before I Fall.

I love both of her books, and I think she seems amazing!

10. Charles Dickens, author of many.

I love him. That is all.

Book of the Month: April - Jun '11

Back in March I picked out the three books that I enjoyed the most for January, February and March. These books are the ones I enjoyed the most during April, May and June. It was hard to choose the books this time around - much harder than before! So, let's get started. 

April's Book of the Month is

The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han

This book is the perfect summer read. It's about a girl who spends her summers at a beach house with her mum's friend and her sons. It's a really fun read, with some heavier stuff thrown in. I definitely recommend reading it if you haven't already, perhaps take it to the beach or the pool on a sunny day. I'll be taking the second book with me to Crete this year!

May's Book of the Month is

Poison Study by Maria V Snyder

Ah, the beginning of a new favourite series of mine! Poison Study is set in a fantasy world, and it's about a girl named Yelena who becomes the Commander's new food taster. She has to learn to test for poisons, whilst also learning to fight and to.. well, I shan't say too much ;) But Yelena is an awesome main character (think Rose Hathaway awesome) and Valek is HOT STUFF.

June's Book of the Month is 

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

I know, I know, it took me AGES to pick up this book. But everyone was right, it's freakin' awesome! The main characters are fantastic, and the writing is brilliant. It's set in Paris and the descriptions made me feel like I was right there, walking around the school and the city. Definitely pick this book up if you haven't already!

Rebels in Literature

1. Tod (Soul Screamers). I can't say much without giving away spoilers, but Tod is definitely one of my favourite characters of all time. He stood up for his family, despite what it cost him.

2. Katniss (The Hunger Games). Need I say more?

3. Tris (Divergent). Again, the reason should be obvious to those who have read the books.

4. Rose (Vampire Academy). The biggest rebel of them all, don't you think?

5. Adrian (Vampire Academy). Just his name makes me chuckle. The amount of things Adrian does to rebel against everyone around him is just... Yeah. He's wonderful!

6. Evie (Paranormalcy). I would have included her pink taser too, but I can't remember her name right now. 

7. Calla (Nightshade). Rebelling against her whole family and way of life takes guts. 

8. Ren (Nightshade). Because he's hot. 

9. Elder (Across the Universe). Shan't anything say due to spoilers... ;)

10. Puck (The Iron King). Okay, he's probably tied in first place with Rose. Puck just doesn't give a ... Well, he just doesn't care who he upsets, if something needs doing then he'll go all out!

Update: In Crete!

Hey everyone! Just to let you know, I'm in Crete (Greece) and I have no internet access. All of my posts for the next two weeks will be scheduled, and I won't be able to reply to comments until I get back.

I apologise for being absent for the past week, as you can imagine I've been incredibly busy with last minute shopping and packing!
