Reading Blues: We all get them from time to time. What helps you overcome those reading slumps when nothing seems to grab your attention?
Feature and Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. This week's featured bloggers are Little Read Riding Hood and Book That Thing!
Have you had a character that disappointed you? One that you fell in love with and then “broke up” with later on in either the series or a stand-alone book? Tell us about him or her.
I've thought long and hard about this one, and it took a while for me to come up with a character to talk about. It's not very often that I love a character and then come to hate them later on. But, of course, it has happened. It happened with Dimitri Belikov from Vampire Academy. I adored him in the first few books, but after something changed at the end of Spirit Bound, I actually became really annoyed at him. Of course, he wasn't going to be the same as he once was, but to be honest I found him a little pathetic.
And I've just realised that both of my answers mention books by Richelle Mead! Totally unplanned, but awesome nonetheless.
I kind of had the same feelings about Dimitri too!
ReplyDeleteYup, changing up the genres always helps with the reading slumps. JR Ward books are a great choice. Thanks for stopping by.
ReplyDeleteSince I'm not into vampires, I haven't read the Vampire Academy books. Actually, I can't think of a single book I've read about vampires. huh. I guess I'm the odd one.

And don't forget to enter to win a Kindle Fire. The LPP Kindle Fire giveaway ends Monday April 30th!
Reading something you usually don't most often does the trick. I don't usually read more than two books at a time and I guess not fast enough, so the reading slumps aren't that often! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by my TGIF post!
Adult UF books are almost always awesome I find. They're just fun to read, especially since they can be so different from YA.
ReplyDeleteI started to feel really bad for Adrian after Dimitri was gone for a bit, so I was a little annoyed when he returned and Adrian got shoved under the bus lol.
Have a great weekend!
love your header :)
ReplyDeleteI try to change genres too.

I haven't read too many books to really know about these characters but I really need to continue the series.

I feel horrible since I've never read a Richelle Mead book! I've been told so many times I need to, I just haven't gotten around to it haha. But I swear I will! And I agree, I like to pick up an adult ("regular") book sometimes during slumps since I don't often have the time to read them.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my post! Happy Friday :)
Good system. Switching up is always good. New follower.

I feel the same way about Dimitri! He changed so much in between the third and fifth books to the point he was almost unrecognizable- it was heartbreaking! (I'm probably being over dramatic)
ReplyDeleteI just discovered Richelle Mead is coming to my local bookstore in June and I am so excited! Woot woot!
