Cover Reveal: Secret by Brigid Kemmerer

Secret by Brigid Kemmerer
Release Date: January 28, 2014
Publisher: Kensington Books

Nowhere is safe. Not even home…

Nick Merrick is stretched to the breaking point.

Keep his grades sky-high or he’ll never escape his hometown.

Keep his brother’s business going or the Merricks will be out on the street.

Keep the secret of where he’s going in the evenings from his own twin—or he’ll lose his family.

Keep his mind off the hot, self-assured dancer who’s supposed to be his “girlfriend’s” partner.

Of course there’s also the homicidal freak Quinn has taken to hanging around, and the Elemental Guide counting the hours until he can try again to kill the Merrick brothers. There’s a storm coming. From all sides. And then some.

Nick Merrick, can you keep it together?

Okay, so I adore this series. You know how I often talk about how I'm looking for books that are either about people with elemental powers, or that include time travel or parallel universes? Well, this is one of the series that kicked off the former of those obsessions. I read Storm and Spark (books one and two) a while ago because everyone seemed to be talking about them, and now I can't get enough! Brigid is one of my favourite YA authors now, and I'm very impressed with the direction she is taking this series. I can't wait for Secret, Nick's book, since I read the Breathless novella and now I feel like I'm being tortured by this wait.

Anyway, so, the cover. What do you guys think? I was expecting the brothers to be on the cover again until Brigid mentioned it was different than the rest. I'm a bit disappointed that Nick's love interest isn't on there, but still. I cannot wait for this book, you guys! And do you want to know another reason I'm excited for it? "This is by far my steamiest novel yet (in both relationships), and I'm a little surprised that my editor didn't make me change anything. Maybe she didn't notice." Yep, that's what Brigid said. I am so ready for this. Are you?

Brigid Kemmerer is the author of The Elemental Series, about a family of four brothers who control the elements, and their battle with those who want them dead. Storm, Spark, and Spirit are available now wherever books are sold. To read the novella introducing Nick’s story, be sure to check out Breathless available as an e-book only from major e-book retailers. You can learn more about Brigid and the Elemental boys at www.brigidkemmerer.com.

You can read my reviews of the previous books in this series by clicking on the covers below. You know, in case you wanted to see if this is your kind of thing.

Cover Reveal: International Night Creatures 2.0

I revealed the international covers of the Night Creatures series a couple of weeks ago, and since then they have gone through a cover change. But don't worry, this change is definitely for the better! Marianne de Pierres and Jarek Kubicki have come to an agreement to share the beautiful Aussie covers with the world.

Aren't they gorgeous? I am so happy about this, because I adore these covers! What do you think of them?

Night Creatures International Cover Reveal

I've heard amazing things about this series from a lot of Aussie bloggers, and I've been dying to get my hands on it. Guess what? The series is being released internationally this month! I'm rather excited, aren't you? And here are the three international covers for the series:

In Ixion music and party are our only beliefs. Darkness is our comfort. We have few rules but they are absolute . . .

Retra doesn’t want to go to Ixion, the island of ever-night, ever-youth and never-sleep. Retra is a Seal – sealed minds, sealed community. She doesn’t crave parties and pleasure, experience and freedom.

But her brother Joel left for Ixion two years ago, and Retra is determined to find him. Braving the intense pain of her obedience strip to escape the only home she’s ever known, Retra stows away on the barge that will take her to her brother.

When she can’t find Joel, Retra finds herself drawn deeper into the intoxicating world of Ixion. Come to me, whispers a voice in her head. Who are the Ripers, the mysterious guardians of Ixion? What are the Night Creatures Retra can see in the shadows? And what happens to those who grow too old for Ixion?

Retra will find that Ixion has its pleasures, but its secrets are deadly. Will friendship, and the creation of an eternal bond with a Riper, be enough to save her from the darkness?

Listen well, baby bats. Burn bright, but do not stray from the paths. Remember, when you live in a place of darkness you also live with creatures of the dark.

Retra - now called Naif - has escaped from Ixion, the island of ever-night. She doesn't know if her friends on the island survived the battle between the Ripers and the rebels. But she does know that she must return home, behind the sealed walls of Grave, to find out why the Ripers have been seen there talking to the councillors. What links the two worlds?

First she must convince Ruzalia to help her. The fierce pirate captain saves those who face terrible fates on Ixion, but that doesn't guarantee their gratitude. Instead, she faces a revolt - and Naif is caught in the middle.

Naif will need all her courage to survive. For Lenoir, who wants to keep her safe, for her friends Suki and Rollo, if they live, for Markes, who has secrets of his own, and for the new friends she will make on this journey.

The fate of worlds depends on it.

Ixion. The island of ever-night.

If she had a choice, Naif wouldn’t go back. But her friends will die if she doesn’t find a cure for the badges that are slowly killing them, and her brother is there, fighting against the Ripers who hold everyone in thrall. And Naif has knowledge that might save them all.

First she must solve the mystery of Ixion’s eternal night. Then she must convince everyone – rebels and revellers alike – to join her cause. And all the while, she must fight the urge to go to Lenoir – her greatest love, her mortal enemy.

The secrets of Ixion must be revealed. The evils must be stopped. A new dawn will come.

Cover Reveal: The Emerald Ring by Dorine White

The Emerald Ring by Dorine White

Sara Bogus's life turns upside down when she discovers an emerald ring that once belonged to Cleopatra. The fun of discovering the ring's unique abilities turns to fear when she finds out a dangerous cult bent on restoring Rome to power is after the ring. Forced to choose between keeping the ring and saving her friends, Sara learns the price of bravery in this electrifying read!
The Emerald Ring is being published by Cedar Fort Books in May 2013. Love the cover! It goes well with the story, and you tell it's a middle grade novel. It sounds great, right? I'm really interested in both Ancient Egypt and Rome, so this sounds like something I'd really enjoy!

Cover Reveal: Fractured by Teri Terry

Isn't it pretty? I love the colours that were used, and I ADORE the model's green eyes. Green eyes are my downfall, seriously.

Release Date: 2nd May 2013

I read Slated when I received it for review a while back, and thought it was fantastic. It was also set in a location that's about fifteen minutes up the road from me, which never EVER happens. I kind of freaked out. I can't wait for this to come out!

Here's the cover for Slated, in case you wanted to do a comparison.

Have any of you read Slated? What did you think? Are you planning on reading Fractured?

Cover & Title Reveal: ASUNDER (Incarnate 2) by Jodi Meadows

Excuse me while I sit here rendered speechless by this stunning cover. It matches Incarnate (below) in terms of theme and beauty. I love it!

DARKSOULS
Ana has always been the only one. Asunder. Apart. But after Templedark, when many residents of Heart were lost forever, some hold Ana responsible for the darksouls–and the newsouls who may be born in their place.

SHADOWS
Many are afraid of Ana’s presence, a constant reminder of unstoppable changes and the unknown. When sylph begin behaving differently toward her and people turn violent, Ana must learn to stand up not only for herself but for those who cannot stand up for themselves.

LOVE
Ana was told that nosouls can’t love. But newsouls? More than anything, she wants to live and love as an equal among the citizens of Heart, but even when Sam professes his deepest feelings, it seems impossible to overcome a lifetime of rejection.

In this second book in the Incarnate trilogy, Ana discovers the truth about reincarnation and will have to find a way to embrace love and make her young life meaningful. Once again, Jodi Meadows explores the extraordinary beauty and shadowed depths of the soul in a story equal parts epic romance and captivating fantasy.

I did a little bit of Googling to find out what 'Asunder' means (because I have honestly never heard of the word before) and here is what I found:

a·sun·der/əˈsəndər/

Adverb:
  1. Apart; divided.
  2. Into pieces.
Synonyms:apart

Jodi also goes into more detail on this in her blog post!

So what do you guys think of the cover and title? Leave a comment below to let me know, while I just sit here and admire the artwork. If you love the cover as much as I do, be sure to leave a comment on Jodi's blog as well!

Cover Reveal: Unrest by Michelle Harrison

Look at this! It's so pretty! I have to say, this is probably one of my favourite covers of the year so far. There's no girl in a dress, and the font is smoky and amazing and I love it so much! I'm sure this is going to be such a creepy story. It's about ghosts, after all. What do you all think?

Release Date: 26th April 2012 (UK)

Another Cover Reveal: City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare

*le gasp* What do you all think? I like it. There are no creepy green eyes in this one. I'm surprised that they didn't chop half of Jace's face off like they did with Simon's on the COFA cover.

Let me know your thoughts on this! It's very different to any of the other covers.

Cover Reveal: Insurgent by Veronica Roth (Divergent #2)

This is the UK cover for Insurgent! What do you guys think? Personally, I love the US cover, but this one is also really pretty. I love the purples, and the burning leaves! I also love that the girl - who I'm assuming is meant to be Tris - is standing over a seemingly barren wasteland with just a long road ahead of her.

There is also going to be a new cover for the first book in the trilogy, Divergent, so that the covers match nicely. I also like this one, although Tris' face looks slightly demonic. Or is that just me?

You can find both books here:

I Can't Believe I Missed This!

Have you guys seen the UK cover for If I Die?! I completely missed it when it was released last week. Ohmigod, it's beautiful! Although I don't know why it's being compared to Twilight, because it's SO. MUCH. BETTER. Ah well, I guess it's for marketing purposes.

I'm in love! This isn't coming to the UK until February 3, 2012, but If I Die comes out in the US TOMORROW!! I'm so excited. I've been waiting for this for months. Who else is excited? Form an orderly queue. AH!

I Love This Cover!

Yes, I know this cover is everywhere already, but I just wanted it on my blog because it's so damn pretty. I love this cover so much! What do you guys think? I think it's miles better than the cover for Divergent, and I especially like the slightly more unique colouring of it.

Do you like it? Or do you think it's awful? I'd be interested to know what you all think! Also, if you're interested and haven't done so already, go and check out the interview that came along with the reveal. You may find it interesting!

Cover Reveal: Bloodlines by Richelle Mead

What do you think? Do you like it?
Personally, I prefer this cover to the US cover, but I'm not too keen on it. I don't like white backgrounds, primarily, and also I don't like the fact that the pictures look like tattoos.
But anyway, I will be reading this book regardless of the cover. Because, well, it's RICHELLE FREAKIN' MEAD. Whew. *deep breaths*
I am SO excited for this book, and I'm sure you all are too. If you haven't read the Vampire Academy series, then this is a perfect time to go and do so!

Cover Reveal: Silence by Becca Fitzpatrick

What do you guys think? I'm in love! This may well be my favourite cover in the trilogy - it's stunning! Patch has wings! SQUEE!!!

Leave comments below, telling me if you like it. Do you think it goes well with the rest of the series? Do tell :)

Also, there's an exclusive SNEAK PEEK from Silence!

He closed the distance between us, and just when I thought he'd drawn me against him, he stopped, holding himself in check. I exhaled, trying not to cry. He leaned his elbow on the door jam, just above my ear. He smelled so devastatingly familiar, soap and spice, the heady scent bringing back a rush of memories so pleasurable, it only made the current moment that much more difficult to bear. I was seized by the desire to touch him. To trace my hands over his skin, to feel his arms tighten securely around me. I wanted him to nuzzle my neck, his whisper to tickle my ear as he said private words that belonged only to me. I wanted him near, so near, with no thought of letting go.

"This isn't over," I said. "After everything we've been through, you don't get the right to brush me off. I'm not letting you off that easily." I wasn't sure if it was a threat, my last stab at defiance, or irrational words spoken straight from my splintered heart.
"I want to protect you," Patch said quietly.
He stood so close. All strength and heat and silent power. I couldn't escape him, now or ever. He'd always be there, consuming my every thought, my heart locked in his hands; I was drawn to him by forces I couldn't control, let alone escape.

"But you didn't."

Cannot. Breathe.

Cover Reveal: Crossed by Ally Condie (Matched #2)

The blueness!
The shattered glass!
The white background!

Did you squee with happiness? I did!

Even if I don't finish Matched, I'm still going to be buying this book just for the BEAUTIFUL cover.

Here's the official synopsis of Crossed, and it's being released on November 1!

Official Synopsis:
In search of a future that may not exist and faced with the decision of who to share it with, Cassia journeys to the Outer Provinces in pursuit of Ky— taken by the Society to his certain death—only to find that he has escaped, leaving a series of clues in his wake. Cassia’s quest leads her to question much of what she holds dear, even as she finds glimmers of a different life across the border. But as Cassia nears resolve and certainty about her future with Ky, an invitation for rebellion, an unexpected betrayal, and a surprise visit from Xander—who may hold the key to the uprising and, still, to Cassia’s heart—change the game once again. Nothing is as expected on the edge of Society, where crosses and double crosses make the path more twisted than ever.

Cover Reveal: Vanish by Sophie Jordan!

Most of you will probably be familiar with the stunning cover of Firelight by Sophie Jordan. It really is a beauty.

I know that everyone has been waiting with baited breath for the reveal of the cover for book two in the series - Vanish. After yesterday's puzzle piece game of matching up the images from various different blogs, I can now announce that the time has come for the final cover to be revealed. And here it is!

Was it worth the wait? I think so! It's gorgeous! Out of the two, though, I think I still prefer Firelight's cover. But that's just because of the red hair. Although I do love the purple on white.. What do you lovely people think? Leave your thoughts below! :D
