Top Ten Sequels I Can't Wait To Get My Hands On
hosted by The Broke and the Bookish
I read a hell of a lot of series, so much so that I even help run an entire blog dedicated to helping people keep up with the ones they're reading, because I feel their pain. But, despite being in the middle of dozens upon dozens of series right now, there are only a few that I am dying to get my hands on. Some are not yet released, others I just need to buy. I haven't included the ones that are already on my TBR shelf, because that feels like cheating.
1. Flame by Amy Kathleen Ryan (Sky Chasers #3)
This isn't a very popular series, but it's one of my favourites. I had epic feels over Spark, and I liveblogged over on Twitter. It was not a pretty sight. I'm expecting amazing things from this one, which I believe is the finale. Bring it on!
2. Ashes to Ashes by Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian (Burn for Burn #3)
Again, I liveblogged Fire With Fire because it damn near killed me. I couldn't handle it! I adore the characters in this series, particularly Lillia and Reeve. But I'm sure you knew that already.
3. The Retribution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin (Mara Dyer #3)
Which keeps getting pushed back. I'm pretty sure they're doing this just to spite me.
4. The sequel to Rip Tide by Kat Falls (Dark Like #3)
This hasn't been announced yet, but Kat said on her website that she has lots more planned for this Middle Grade, post-apocalyptic world. I can't wait to read more, since Dark Life is one of my favourite books, and I am basically in love with the ambiguous "villain". I think this series is on hold due to poor sales, which saddens me.
5. Cress by Marissa Meyer (The Lunar Chronicles #3)
Me and the rest of the world, eh? I cannot wait to see more of Cinder and Scarlet, and to finally meet Cress, a character who I have been hearing a lot about. I love Marissa Meyer's writing style, and the fact that her characters are totally badass. I'm also waiting for a certain captain/cyborg relationship to play out...
6. Crown of Shadows by Joe Hill (Locke & Key #3)
I'm currently waiting on this one to arrive. I love this series in all its disturbing glory, and I promised myself that I would buy one book each month because these buggers are expensive. I'm regretting that decision, believe me.
7. Rise and Ruin by Leigh Bardugo (The Grisha #3)
Because Alina is going to rise up and kill them all. And I need to see Sturmhond again because I'm going through withdrawals.
8. The sequel to Blackout by Robison Wells (Blackout #2)
Blackout was an amazing book, which nearly gave me a heart attack several times due to the epic power-usage. I love books about people with powers, and this one was just awesome. There was also only a tiny bit of romance, which I appreciated. With the way Blackout ended, I am on the edge of my seat waiting for the sequel!
9. The sequel to All Our Yesterdays by Cristin Terrill (All Our Yesterdays #2)
Because All Our Yesterdays was a crazy book, and I'm hoping for lots more time travel insanity in the sequel. I'm a bit confused as to how it's going to work, given the way All Our Yesterdays ended. But I'm not going to fight it. Gimme.
10. Split Second by Kasie West (Pivot Point #2)
Pivot Point was my first read of the year, and it's still one of my favourites. Again with the time travel/parallel universe thing. I adore it. I can't wait for more.
Honourable mentions:
- Erased by Jennifer Rush (Altered #2)
This would totally be up there in my top ten if I hadn't already received and read an ARC. *whistles*
- The not-yet-announced spin-off to the Unraveling series, which I have convinced myself is happening and it's about Barclay. I will turn to fanfiction if I have to.
- Secret by Brigid Kemmerer (Elemental #4)
Because it's about Nick and I love Nick.
- Meridian by Josin L. McQuein (Arclight #2)
I have a ship that needs to set sail.
I need more Sturmhond too. He better be in it a lot. I need Cress & Split Second too!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for Erased! I'm looking forward to finding out more about Anna's past.
Great list, Amber! :D
Ruin & Rising, I NEED YOU.
ReplyDelete"Because Alina is going to rise up and kill them all."
ReplyDeleteYep, considered me sold ;) Still haven't read the Mara Dyer series OR the Pivot Point series OR the Arclight series OR... so many of them!!! Hope you'll get to your sequels and watch those ships set sail in their full glory!
Alicia @ Summer Next Top Story
Wait a sec, there's a possibility of an Unraveling spin-off??! I NEED ONE. But Barclay :(
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for Cress and Meridian either, and I've read Erased too. Loved it so much <3
I really need to read All Our Yesterdays! Everyone but me has read it, I think. Plus it sounds awesome.
Great list, Amber :)
My TTT
Even though I had Meridian on my WoW last week I forgot it for this list! I also have Ruin and Rising on my list. So excited for the upcoming books. :-)
ReplyDeleteAh I forgot about Rise and Ruin! So in the minority here, but I can't stand the Darkling and I'm shipping Alina and Sturmhond. STURMHOND FTW.
ReplyDeleteI read Glow in the Sky Chasers and was just seriously underwhelmed. The love triangle aggravated me and then "we need girls to make babies" thing was creepy as hell.
Oooh, Glow's been on my TBR forever, perhaps it's time to bump it up. Nothing motivates me more than an epic sequel. Cress and Ruin & Rising are must haves, for sure. I didn't realize All Our Yesterdays had a sequel. Hmmm. I mean, I'll read it because the first was amazing, but like you said, how's that going to work?
ReplyDeleteSPLIT SECOND I NEED YOU RIGHT NOW! TREVORRRRR! Ahem, sorry about that.
YES. Split Second! I CANNOT wait to see what happens next with Trevor and everything that happened at the end. He wasn't my favorite guy (of course I ended up loving the terrible one), but he is just about the sweetest guy ever.
ReplyDeleteSo excited for Mara Dyer and Cress. Also looking forward to Unhinged, the Splintered sequel.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read Siege and Storm yet because I'm waiting on Ruin and Rising. I've heard so much about this Stormhund fellow I'm thinking binge-reading is the only option.
ReplyDeleteAnd TREVOR!
I love feels. Feels are awesome. So yes, I need to read Burn For Burn soooon. Eeee.
ReplyDeleteWhat, they changed the release date for The Retribution of Mara Dyer AGAIN? Ughhh. I've yet to read The Evolution of Mara Dyer but this is frustrating.
So freakin' excited for Split Second! And All Our Yesterdays! Eeee, gonna be awesomeee. =D *bounces*
I have Retribution, Cress, and Split Second. Ahhh...I forgot about Flame! I love that series, even though it is so dark, and I can't wait to find out what happens. And I loved All Our Yesterdays as well and I'm like you, I have no idea how the sequel is going to work given the ending, but I will definitely read it. Great list! ~Pam
ReplyDeleteLOVVEEE your list. So many awesome books!

Doris @ Owl Always Be Reading
I haven't started any of these series except for The Lunar Chronicles! I feel so lame! I'll need to check some of them out. :)
ReplyDeleteHere's Mine @ Pinkindle Reads & Reviews
Great list, so many books I want to read. I still need to read Pivot Point, which looks incredible. I also have Cinder and Scarlet sitting on my bookshelf right now because I have heard nothing but amazing things about them!
ReplyDeleteI also added Flame to my list, I quite enjoyed Glow but Spark was what really got me to love this series. So excited to finally be able to see how it ends, not so sure of the cover though. Great list. My TTT.
I love the Sky Chasers series but my friend hates it. I think it's really hot or miss. Either way, I can't wait for the third one. I need to catch up with the Mara Dyer series because I still haven't read the second book! And I totally forgot about the Undone Novella until now! I must go purchase it. This is a great list :)
ReplyDeleteMara Dyer 3 is on my list.
ReplyDeleteI've been meaning to check out Locke & Key...which I first heard about when they tried to make a TV series out of it...unfortunately it didn't take off.

YES YES to the retribution of mara dyer.. i heard the reason why it was pushed back was because when the author finished writing the book she didn't like it and the ending and everything so she scrapped it and started again so that's why it was pushed around 7 months later :(
ReplyDeleteooh, I need to read Erased! lucky you to get an ARC :D
